Yamaha FZS V3 Overview
Styling and Appearance
Moving on to the looks of the bike, it has all the characteristics of a premium naked sport, including a large sculpted fuel tank. The Yamaha FZS V3 retains its previous design while remaining distinct from other FZ models. It has a premium appearance thanks to an all-new LED headlight, shiny chrome plating, and a 3D emblem.
The front section includes an LED headlamp with high and low beam bulbs, and there are halogen indicators situated are at the very top. Furthermore, the rear section is unaltered. It includes the same halogen tail lamp as well as a large grab bar.
The new Yamaha FZ-S V3 bike is also one of the lightest in the FZ series, weighing only 135kg. Even though the bike is not different from the sporty looks of the FZ-S series, there is more style added to it.
The Yamaha FZ-S V3 BS 6 is heftier than the BS4 variant, with additional tank extensions. A new LCD instrument console, an elevated (by 22mm) handlebar, and a wider single-piece seat rather than the split unit are also noticeable improvements. The single-piece seat makes the seating much more comfortable.
Adding up to all these design specifications, the new Yamaha FZ-S V3 reflects its muscular road presence when observed from the side and is available in three colors- Matte Red, Dark Matte Blue, Vintage Green, and a new Dark Knight variant in BS6, and Grey, Matt Blue, Cyan in BS4.
Engine Specification and Mileage
Powering the Yamaha FZ-S V3 BS4 is a single cylinder four-stroke engine of 149cc. The engine is SOHC (Single Overhead Camshaft) providing more engines which results in a greater number of revolutions per minute (RPM). The engine is air cooled providing a peak power of 13.2 PS at 8000 rpm. Also, the maximum torque provided by the Yamaha FZ-S V3 BS4 engine is 12.8 Nm at 6000 rpm.
Similarly, powering the new Yamaha FZ-S V3 BS6 is a single cylinder four-stroke SOHC engine of 155cc. The engine is air cooled providing a peak power of 12.4 PS at 7250 rpm. Also, the maximum torque provided by the Yamaha FZ-S V3 BS6 is 13.3 Nm at 5500 rpm. We can see that the power of the engine has been compromised while the torque has increased. Yamaha, on the other hand, claims that the engine has been tuned for improved low-end performance and fuel efficiency.
The engine is connected to a five-speed gearbox which helps to provide the ease of use of an automatic transmission with the sportiness and increased fuel economy of a constant mesh transmission. In addition to the gearbox, the engine is also connected to a 13L fuel tank. Along with this, the new Yamaha FZ-S V3 has programmed fuel injection which produces smooth and consistent torque at low rpm, plus excellent high-rpm performances.
Moreover, the engine provides a top speed of 115 kilometers per hour (kmph). The bike provides maximum mileage of 45 kilometers per liter (kmpl) which is one of the highest among the 150 cc bikes available in Nepal. The bike has a range of 550km to 585km with a full tank. The compression ratio for the engine is 9:6:1. Along with all these specifications, the new Yamaha FZ-S V3 BS6, from its name we can know that it is BS6 compliant making it more environmentally friendly as it produces a lesser amount of Sulphur gas.
Suspension, Wheels, and Braking System
The new Yamaha FZ-S V3 sits on a diamond chassis and the starting mechanism is a self-starter only. Suspension duties on the bike are handled by telescopic forks up at the front end which have a higher capacity to absorb shock. On the rear end, a seven-step adjustable monocross suspension is used which increases the handling capacity and stability of the bike.
Moving on to the braking duties, the new Yamaha FZ X bike uses a standard single-channel Automatic Braking System (ABS) which is enough and efficient for the roads of Nepal at the front end. The rear tyre has a disc braking system enhancing the braking control of the bike. The braking system consists of a 282mm front disc and 220mm rear disc brakes
Also, the bike has a wet clutch system as it makes the clutching system because the fierce clutch engagement is damped down by the lubricant. In addition to this, the bike has multiple disc clutch increasing the torque transmissivity and less weight making it suitable for heavy bikes. As for the tyre, the new Yamaha FZ X has tubeless tyres with a size of 100/80 at the front end and 140/60 at the rear end. Moreover, the 140mm rear radial tyres enhance grip on all Nepalese road conditions.
The Yamaha FZ-S V3 BS4 has a kerb weight of 137 kg which is comparatively heavier but the use of all metallic components adds up to it. The new Yamaha FZ-S V3 BS6 has reduced its weight by 2 kg so has a kerb weight of 135kg.
The length of the bike is 1990 mm, its width is 780 mm and its height is 1080 m. The wheelbase of the bike is 1330 mm making it able to corner faster but the design is not aerodynamically smooth. Also, the seat height is 790 mm making the pedaling smoother and faster and the body is positioned properly. The ground clearance of 165 mm makes the bike perfect for urban regions of Nepal.
In addition to all these physical features, the new Yamaha FZ-S V3 BS6 comes with two new exciting features: Side Stand Engine Cut Off and X-Connect Connectivity.
The ‘Side Stand Engine Cut Off’ is a safety feature that switches off the engine whenever the rider forgets to retract the side stand. The feature not only switches off the engine but also removes the load on the gear train allowing you to slide into the next gear without letting off the throttle.
The X-Connect Connectivity is the new Bluetooth feature that helps the new Yamaha FZ-S V3 BS6 to do more. The feature makes the bike accessible through a smartphone using the Yamaha Motorcycle Connect X app on your mobile. The major features of X-Connect are- answer back, e-lock, locate my bike, hazard, riding history, and parking record.
Other features of Yamaha FZ-S V3 include ECO indicator and under cowl, negative LCD instrument cluster, advanced midship muffler, and improved pickup feel.
The major difference between the new Yamaha FZ-S V3 BS6 and the Yamaha FZ-S V3 BS4 lies in its engine emission compliance. The new FZ-S also comes with two additional features: Side Stand Engine Cut Off and X-Connect Connectivity. Apart from this, all the other features and specifications are similar.
One of the best-known and best-selling motorcycles is the FZS FI Version 3.0. However, some individuals thought the most recent pricing to be excessively high. This motorcycle will compete against the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Suzuki Gixxer 150, and Bajaj Pulsar NS 160. Additionally, only the Dark Knight Edition will be charged the highest fee. Although it has the same specifications as the others, its color palette is darker.
